OK, perhaps 7 festivals last year was greedy, but we just can’t get enough of lazing in a field somewhere on a sunny afternoon. Some brilliant music, cold cider in hand, surrounded but smiley happy people while the kids play.
But all the camping can get a little exhausting, especially if the weather isn’t perfect. So this year we may try to reign it in a little, (just a little).
Funk The Family Festival is coming to Brighton! Well, Hove actually. It couldn’t be any more local for us. It sold out in its first year last summer so we couldn’t make it, but this year we are already booked.
The organisers (Funk the Format) are planning to turn Hove Park into a musical wonderland for families, which is going to be really interesting to see. Radio Reverb DJ Lucy ‘Elle J’ Small has been working in the music industry for over a decade, so as Festival Director she’s certainly going to put on a good show.
If queuing for showers and stumbling over guy ropes in the search of dirty portaloos fills you with dread, then this festival is definitely for you. For those that aren’t local to Brighton, Hove Park is really easy to find with, plenty of parking and easy access in and out of town.
You can check out the full line up at Funk The Family on their website. I’m really looking forward to Kalakuta Millionaires who absolutely rocked Elderflower Fields last year. Plus catching up with the Stick It On crew for some proper silliness. I’m also quite looking forward to being able to bundle the kids in a taxi at the end of the night at get home to my own bed!
There’s plenty to keep the kids busy like arts and crafts, trapeze workshops from the Circus Project, nerf wars from the Outdoors Project and yoga from The Tree of Life. I’m hoping to spend a reasonable amount of time at the cocktail bar or lazing in the sun (we hope).
You can buy your tickets here.
Funk The Family Festival is part of the Brighton Fringe Festival and have offered one of you lovely people a family one-day ticket worth £49.50
See you in a field somewhere soon! (Hove actually)
